Shawnee is a board-certified physician assistant with a work history that puts patients at the center of care. After becoming a certified nursing assistant and surgical technologist, she wanted to continue her medical journey. She soon pursued a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from St. Cloud State University and then completed a master’s in physician assistant studies from Northwestern College.  

As part of Shawnee’s physician assistant rotations, she has immense insight into mental health’s impact on someone’s overall health. In fact, her final clinical rotation was with our psychiatry team here at PrairieCare in Brooklyn Park, which led her to pursue a career in mental health.  

Outside of her work at PrairieCare, she has hobbies that include helping on the family farm, going out on the boat, and spending time with family and friends.
