Dr. Molly Erdmann has had a passion for the pediatric population of psychiatric patients. After spending over 10 years as a registered nurse, working on both inpatient psychiatric units and general medical pediatric hospital units, Dr. Erdmann joined PrairieCare in 2022 as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at our Rochester location.
During her time as an RN, Dr. Erdmann was able to gain an understanding for the needs the pediatric population as a medical bedside nurse as well as emotional needs as a psychiatric nurse. This unique experience allowed her to educate peers, as well as students, how best to help assist and care for the pediatric mental health population. While working on the general pediatric medical floor, she developed a toolkit to educate and offer tools for staff nurses on de-escalation skills helpful in managing difficult behaviors. She enjoyed various educational roles including precepting new nurses, students, and worked as an adjunct clinical professor in Mental Health for Winona State University and Viterbo University. Dr. Erdmann completed her clinical residency within a variety of Mayo Clinic psychiatry settings including inpatient, outpatient, pain rehab, and consult liaison services. Dr. Erdmann is board certified to provide psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy for individuals across the lifespan, though her primary practice is within the child and adolescent population.
Dr. Erdmann believes in the importance providing individualized holistic care, recognizing the connection between the mind and body. She strives to understand each of her patient’s unique life story and brings that into each patient interaction. Dr. Erdmann believes that by understanding where someone comes from, and where they currently are, informs what’s needed to get them where they want to go, then works to provide them with the skills, treatment, or services to assist along that journey.
Away from work, Dr. Erdmann enjoys spending time with her family, anything outdoors, boating on the river, running, and reading.
