Dr. LaDonna Butler (she/her) brings over 15 years of experience to her role as a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) therapist at PrairieCare’s Woodbury location. She earned a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Human Services with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She provides therapy to individuals across the lifespan, currently working with clients ages 6 to 82. 

Dr. Butler is known for creating a warm, supportive, and culturally responsive space where patients feel seen, heard, and valued. Her clinical work focuses on trauma recovery, emotional regulation, identity development, grief, and co-occurring substance use. She is trained in DBT and integrates somatic inquiry, narrative therapy, and expressive arts to promote healing and resilience. 

In addition to her role at PrairieCare, Dr. Butler is the founder of The Well for Life, a wellness collective devoted to mental health access and community healing. Her work has been featured in Time Magazine, The New York Times, ABC News, NPR, Essence, The Tampa Bay Times, and The Weekly Challenger, where she has shared insights on BIPOC mental health, community wellness, and healing justice. 

Dr. Butler is a proud mother of five children and an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a legacy life member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys poetry, sunrise walks, live music, and peaceful moments by the water. Clients describe her as grounded, compassionate, and deeply committed to walking alongside them on their healing journey.
