Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Education

Bachelor’s Degree: University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH
Doctorate Degree: Vanderbilt School of Nursing, Nashville, TN
Licensure: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Conor has been in the mental health field, working with children and adolescents for over seven years. After graduating with a psychology degree from the University of New Hampshire, Conor volunteered working with at-risk teens at a local teen center before going to work for Easter Seals for five years, working with special-needs adolescents and children from ages 10–22 with a wide variety of different psychiatric diagnoses such as schizophrenia, autism, and depression and anxiety, in addition to neurocognitive disorders and unique intellectual disabilities, working with both the patients and families to provide the best care possible. That therapeutic and interpersonal interaction gave Conor the desire to understand the psychopharmacology side of things in hopes of holistically weaving those sides together. This desire brought him through an unconventional route to becoming a nurse practitioner, receiving his training at Vanderbilt while working with an assortment of the mental health population in that area.

Conor is passionate about the day-to-day assessment available in partial hospitalization programs, as it lets him work one-on-one with the therapists, nurses, and clinicians in a team environment. He believes in a family-oriented approach specific to the person, where communication with the family is key to success. He is also a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Center for Families in Minneapolis.

When not working, Conor loves sci-fi and fantasy stories, as well as playing board games. He also enjoys writing, reading, and drawing. He also likes to paint when he has time. In the outdoors, he likes to hike and ski.
