Jul 17, 2014 by PrairieCare Team

PrairieCare Medical Group (PCMG) clinicians Michael Bloomquist, PhD (Adjunct Director of Evidence Based Practices) and Joel Oberstar, MD (VP & Managing Physician) were pleased to discuss efforts to infuse evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions into PCMG’s continuum of care  to an audience of clinician-researchers attending the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Conference at the University of Northampton, England, on July 4, 2014.  Following an introduction by Dr. Oberstar outlining the collaboration between PCMG and the University of Minnesota, Dr. Bloomquist shared the theoretical background for and fidelity/outcome results from PCMG’s two specialty After School Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs).  More precisely, Dr. Bloomquist outlined the intervention methods and responses to participation by youth/families in the Healthy Emotions Program and the Behavior Development Program.  “I was honored to present the results of our collaboration on an international scale,” said Dr. Bloomquist following the presentation.  Dr. Oberstar further noted, “PrairieCare and PCMG have done wonderful work expanding access to high quality, evidence-based assessment and treatment to youth in the Twin Cities; it was affirming to find interest within an international audience for the quality work our team is doing on a daily basis.”
