Michaela Banz joined PrairieCare in Rochester in early 2023 as a member of the child and adolescent partial hospitalization therapy team. Prior to coming to PrairieCare, Michaela worked in the residential setting, working with adults with co-occurring substance use disorders. In that role, she would work with patients in the individual therapy setting family therapy, as well as psycho-education, process, and relapse prevention groups, frequently.

Michaela has specialty training in dialectical behavior therapy that she brings into her therapy approach with all of her patients. She also uses cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy approaches, finding expertise working with trauma, anxiety, depression, psychosis, and mood disorders. Michaela believes that communication is paramount to success and having a very compassionate, empathetic, open, mental view is so important as well. Lastly, developing healthy relationships and communicating effectively with everyone in your life is something she stresses throughout her time with patients.

Away from work, Michaela enjoys spending time with family, being outside, traveling, and reading.
