Dr. Barger has been working in mental health since 2002 and received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Minnesota in May 2013. She has worked in inpatient, forensic and emergency psychiatry settings- most recently as a supervisor in the psychiatric emergency room in downtown Minneapolis. She began her mental health career at St. Peter Regional Treatment Center and has worked all over the United States in psychiatric-mental health services. She utilizes a solution-focused, individualized and personable approach to providing care.
Primary practice interests include serious and persistent mental illness, crisis management, dual diagnosis and women’s mental health. Research interests include occupational stress and emergency psychiatry. During her off time she enjoys traveling, having been to five continents already, as well as kayaking, biking and skiing.
